Morris is Assistant Provost

Doreen Morris, assistant to the provost and to the senior vice president, has been appointed assistant provost for administration, effective September 1. In her role as assistant provost Ms. Morris will serve as the principal liaison between the provost and the senior vice president and also between the provost and the individuals and organizations reporting directly to him. She will continue to serve as the principal administrative staff member to the provost and will coordinate the fiscal and logistical needs of the Office of the Provost.

Ms. Morris, a graduate of Gordon College, came to MIT in 1978 when she joined the Budget Office. In 1982 she became the financial officer in the Office of the Dean of Science. Since 1985 she has been assistant to the provost and in 1987 she took on additional responsibilites as assistant to the senior vice president.

In announcing Ms. Morris' appointment, Provost Mark Wrighton said "Doreen Morris' appointment as assistant provost for administration formalizes many of the responsibilities defined by me and Mr. Dickson, and this promotion and expanded set of duties reflect the extraordinary performance she has demonstrated during the past several years."
