Wright, Brehm join News Office


News Office Director Kenneth D. Campbell has announced the appointments of Sarah H. Wright as senior writer and Denise Brehm as assistant editor of MIT Tech Talk and staff writer.

Ms. Wright, who joined the News Office staff on a temporary appointment in March, was promoted to senior writer in September. She is a 1973 graduate of Bennington College and received a master's degree in education from Harvard University in 1980. She has 15 years of experience as a journalist, editor, columnist, critic and book reviewer for daily newspapers, a weekly newspaper and monthly magazines.

She was editor of the Boston Herald Sunday Magazine from 1993-97 and was managing editor, arts and feature editor of the Middlesex News from 1986-89. Ms. Wright has also worked for the Providence Journal, The Real Paper and Houghton Mifflin, where she was an editor of textbooks, and she has appeared frequently on television as a commentator.

Ms. Brehm, who joined the News Office in July, is a 1982 graduate of the University of Oklahoma and received a master's degree in journalism from Boston University last May. She has taught writing at the University of Oklahoma and has done corporate communications work for TAD Technical Services in Cambridge.

She was development officer in Cambridge for the Salzburg Seminar, vice president for development of Associated Day Care Services of Boston, conference planner for DSP Associates in Newton, and a freelance writer for the Brown Alumni Monthly and the MIT Health Plans newsletter. Ms. Brehm, who has been at MIT since 1993, was an administrative assistant in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for the past three years.
