Author/director Paul Auster visits MIT on Thursday, Oct. 28 for a screening of Lulu on the Bridge, followed by a conversation with William Corbett, writer in residence at MIT. Sponsored by the MIT Writers Series, the event takes place at 7pm in Rm 10-250. The screening offers a rare opportunity to see the new film, which will not be shown in theaters.

Starring Harvey Keitel and Mira Sorvino, Lulu on the Bridge tells the story of a Manhattan jazz musician who suddenly falls in love with Lulu, complicating both their lives. Mr. Auster explores his customary themes of chance, freedom and the prison of the self, this time delving into the powerful allure of a woman in a screenplay that draws on Alban Berg's opera Lulu and the G.W. Pabst film Pandora's Box, which starred Louise Brooks.
