28-year-old graduate student killed in truck accident


Sara Mae Bush of Arlington, MA, a 28-year-old graduate student in biology, was killed when a truck careened off the Tobin Memorial Bridge at 6am on June 22 and crushed her car on Chestnut Street in Chelsea.

A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Vermont, Ms. Bush was on a leave of absence from MIT. She was en route to the Franklin Park Zoo to begin an internship as an animal caretaker when she was killed. She was raised on a horse farm in Piermont, NH.

The driver of the 18-wheel rig pleaded not guilty to charges of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license. No trial date has been set.

Survivors include Ms. Bush's mother, Lorraine Taft.
