Shipwrights at work

Building a Shellback dinghy from plans by Joel White (SB 1954, ocean engineering) in the MIT Museum studios in top photo are architecture graduate student Gretchen Fricke (left), Chris Dewart, technical instructor in architecture (right front), and Reuben Smith, boat shop director at the Hull Life-Saving Museum. Later, some Charles River ice was cleared to launch the dinghy at the Sailing Pavilion to great cheers by the builders and members of the museum staff (bottom photo).
