Students can get $5 tickets for MFA guitar exhibition

Thanks to MIT's membership at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts (MFA), MIT students can visit the new Dangerous Curves: Art of the Guitar exhibition for a discount rate of $5.

The student discount tickets, valid only on the date of purchase, can be bought at the Guitar's box office at the MFA upon presentation of a valid full-time MIT student ID. The tickets are valid Monday through Friday between noon and closing and are subject to availability. Dangerous Curves: Art of the Guitar is on view through February 25.

The exhibition, dedicated to the visual design and evolution of the guitar, reveals how fashion, technology and musical tastes have literally shaped the instrument. It features more than 130 guitars from museum and private collections around the world, including those ownd by legendary performers John Lennon, Jimi Hendrx, Les Paul, Chet Atkins and Prince. A free audio guide narrated by James Taylor takes visitors through the exhibition.

MIT's membership at the MFA is funded annually by the Council for the Arts at MIT. Through this program, MIT students can enjoy the regular exhibitions and cultural programs for free and receive a 10 percent discount at the museum bookstore and gift shop by presenting a current student ID at the museum. MIT employees can borrow one of eight membership passes for free admission to the MFA; no staff discounts are available for the guitar exhibition.
