Mass. Ave. road work starts after Commencement

Construction on a nine-month project to replace storm drains under Massachusetts Avenue will start this month after MIT's Commencement.

Beginning on Memorial Drive in front of Killian Court, the project will progress northward up Massachusetts Avenue to the intersection with Main Street.

Most of the work will take place in the two center traffic lanes of Massachusetts Avenue. During construction hours (Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm), there will be only enough space for one lane of traffic in each direction. After 3:30pm, an additional lane will be opened. During construction, the MIT community is encouraged to use public transportation and seek alternate routes.
