Tuller honored with doctorate, other awards

Professor Harry L. Tuller of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering recently received several honors.

Tuller was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Oulu in Finland in May. The university of Oulu recognizes distinguished scientists or influential members of society with an Honorary Doctorate, the highest honor that the university can bestow. Tuller was recognized for his seminal contributions to the field of electroceramics.

Tuller delivered the 2009 McMahon Lecture at Alfred University in November. Each year, the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering invites a distinguished ceramic scientist or engineer to deliver the lecture and receive the award.

Several symposia in honor of Tuller’s 65th birthday have been scheduled, including symposia at Composites of Lake Louise in Canada and the European Materials Research Society in Strasbourg, France.
