MIT softball cited for academic success

Recognized recently by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)
The MIT softball team was recognized recently for its academic success last season by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Engineers posted the third-highest cumulative grade point average among all Division III teams during the 2010-11 academic year and were fifth in the NCAA across all divisions.

The Cardinal and Gray recorded a 3.600 GPA as a team for the year. Northwestern College (Minn.) led all teams with a 3.694 mark.

The NFCA Academic Awards program honors both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs for the 2010-11 academic year. As a second component of the program, all submitted student-athletes who achieved a 3.50 GPA during last academic year are named as a NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. The individual honorees will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 5, on NFCA.org.
