Slideshow: Community Inauguration Festival

Saturday's events — including a road race, campus quest and global barbecue — marked the end of the week of festivities around inauguration.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, the MIT community gathered together for a day of festivities to celebrate the inauguration of MIT's 17th president, L. Rafael Reif. Reif, who delivered his inaugural address the day before, participated in events throughout the day — even starting off the morning road race, which raised funds for Habitat for Humanity.

The afternoon ended with a global barbecue, where faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of MIT came together to celebrate the Institute and its new president.
