On June 4 in Washington, D.C., Chilean President Sebastián Piñera presented Arnoldo Hax with the Medal of the Order of Commander, for his distinguished services to Chile. This decoration was established in 1885 to recognize Chilean citizens for services which are of special importance for the country.
Hax is the Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Management Emeritus and is the the faculty director for the MIT-Chile Program. One of MISTI’s newest programs, MIT-Chile has sent more than 65 students on internships and research projects in Chile.
MIT-Chile also offers faculty funding to MIT professors who are working in collaboration with peers in Chile. In the last annual report issued by the Ministry of Economy of Chile, it was stated that MISTI’s MIT-Chile Program was the most successful technology transfer initiative for the country.
