Bexley residents, student leaders respond to dormitory closing due to structural problems

Chancellor, dean for student life send letters in response.

On Friday, May 10, students living in Bexley Hall and members of the student leadership at MIT sent letters to Chancellor Eric Grimson and Dean for Student Life Chris Colombo in response to the news that Bexley would close for up to three years due to structural problems.

On Monday, Grimson and Colombo responded to the students in writing.

Comments

Kudos to the Bexley students for their clear requests and mature approach to this unfortunate situation. It is still unclear why the dorm needs to be closed for 3 years, 12 months seems reasonable and a partial closure would be the best approach to maintain the community.
