This spring, the MIT Quarter Century Club (QCC) inducted 193 new members. The 2014 class — comprising 121 inductees from campus, 69 from Lincoln Laboratory, and three from Haystack Observatory — was welcomed by QCC president Yvonne L. Gittens, featured speaker and MIT Executive Vice President and Treasurer Israel Ruiz SM ’01, and QCC members with 50 years of service to the Institute, including Professor and President Emeritus Paul E. Gray and honorary QCC member Priscilla K. Gray. There are 4,210 current members of the club.

Membership in the QCC is offered to faculty, administrative, research, support, and service staff who have celebrated the 25th anniversary of employment at MIT on or before June 30. The club is charged with promoting good fellowship among long-term associates of the MIT community and furthering the wellbeing of its members through cultural, educational, and social events. The QCC hosts three annual social events: a summer gathering, the Silver Club High Tea in the fall, and a holiday party in December.

In addition to social activities, the Quarter Century Club assists retired QCC members in pursuing their health, wellness, fitness, and educational goals via grants from the William R. Dickson Retiree Education Fund, which was established in 1998 to honor the former senior vice president of the Institute on the occasion of his retirement. More information about the Dickson Fund, the application process, and the variety of classes taken by fellow QCC members can be found at the QCC web site.

The MIT Quarter Century Club, headquartered in the Community Services Office, is governed by a board of directors and is currently seeking nominations to the board. If you are a QCC member interested in joining the QCC board of directors or if you would like to nominate another member, please contact one of the board members or the QCC office at qcc-reply@mit.edu or 617-253-7914 to learn about the nomination process.
