The memo below, announcing a power shutdown for Wednesday, Dec. 20, was sent Dec. 18 from Steven C. Marsh, managing director of real estate, and Michael K. Owu, director of real estate, MIT Investment Management Company, to tenants and employees in One Broadway.

Our primary goal is to ensure your safety and to have One Broadway operating as soon as possible.

While we are working toward a long-term solution to restore the building's electrical system, we are moving forward on a temporary occupancy solution. Working closely with local and state authorities, our mechanical and life safety engineers are developing a plan which will allow the building to be opened to tenants and safely occupied.

As a required next step towards this goal, there will be a power shutdown on Wednesday, December 20th, 2006 from 10.00am until approximately 6.00pm.

This shutdown is necessary to upgrade generators at One Broadway and to install additional electrical equipment as we work toward a temporary occupancy solution. The shutdown is taking place during daylight hours as a safety measure.

Limited access will be available to tenants who wish to power down and power up equipment on either side of the shutdown. A full schedule for Wednesday is below. The normal limited access schedule will resume on Thursday, December 21, 2006.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate your patience as we work toward a temporary occupancy solution.
